Caution: Talk About the Good Ol' Days to Follow!!

What is it with toys now a days?? You need a screw driver, a knife, a pair of scissors, and a calm patience to even get the darn toy out of the package! Then, if that isn't bad enough, everything takes batteries, but in order to get to the batteries you must unscrew the darn cover first.

I just had the pleasure of releasing a toy, myself, this evening. Poor little Bumpo finally gave up after about a half hour trying to get his new treasure out of the box. The poor little guy had only managed to create a huge mess full of cardboard and plastic pieces and was just extremely frustrated by that point. So he brought it to his toy expert for help. I then had to call in the scissors to cut those wonderful wire ties that hold everything in place, a knife to cut the tape away from the box, and then a screwdriver to unscrew the bottom of the toy from the box. It's like this darn toy that I spent $10 on is some treasured piece of antique china that was shipped from China with a million stops on the way to it's final destination. IT'S PLASTIC for crying out-loud! It isn't that breakable. And if it is, then why in the world do I want it anyway?!!!

I wish we could go back to the days of fully cardboard boxes, with a picture of what was inside on the box. Then all you'd have to do is open the box, and pull out your toy and begin to play! No tools necessary. It would be so much easier on parents, kids would be happier, and not to mention much better for the environment.
