So, I am now the proud mommy of a five year old. We had a great time yesterday. We started off the day making my dear monkey's very own banana birthday cake, then he spent the next hour or so in the bathtub soaking off the remnants of cake batter and icing.
After that we were on to one of the coolest kid places in town. A place full of tunnels and slides and all kinds of good kiddy (read: Bumpo, Bob, Daddy and Boppa) fun. They all played in the tubes for hours. It's much like Chuck E. Cheese's but without the crappy pizza and the rambunctious teenagers. We then headed to Pizza Inn for some awful pizza (I've never had worse pizza in my life) then back home to open presents and devour the banana cake.
Much fun was had by all.
Today, however, is a different story. I was up most of the night with a fever over 100, only to be joined half way through with a very sick Bumpo. He's running a fever, is very stuffy, and not very happy. In fact, the very first thing he said to me this morning was " Mom, this is the first stuffy nose for this five year old." So yeah, it's safe to say that the crap-factor of this whole situation did not pass him by. I'm just hoping he's feeling better soon. His birthday party (the one he's been planning for forever) is next weekend and I don't know how well I'd be able to explain a puke bucket next to the cake table.
Not to mention the fact that RSV is going around this town like crazy and given Bumpo's already troubled breathing problems, that's the last thing we need.

Not the kind of present Bumpo was hoping for
